Description

This is one of my favorite saltwater flies for bonefish, permit, and other flats fish. It is small and lands softly, and it has a range of appealing crustacean characteristics. I have also used it to catch tide-water kings and as a very effective follow-up fly when swing fishing for steelhead. It's like a wiggly little muddler but different. This pattern is available for U.S. shipping only.

Field Notes

A small crustacean imitation for flats fishing, especially when targeting bonefish and permit over sand, grass, or mixed bottom. It lands softly and is also useful as a follow-up fly after a swing for steelhead or other tide-water fish.

Pros

  • Soft landing for spooky fish
  • Effective crustacean profile for flats species
  • Versatile enough for bonefish, permit, and steelhead follow-up use

Cons

  • Specialized pattern with limited use outside saltwater or tide-water situations
  • U.S. shipping only
