Very Impressed Let me start by stating: I’ve always been a fan of standard centrifugal and magnetic braking systems—purely out of tradition. Based on nothing more than opinion, I always assumed I could dial in my reel settings better than any “electronic system” and that I knew more than technology. Buddy, let me tell you… I was wrong. Check out my full opinion below ⬇️ That being said, after months of field testing, I can easily say I’ve been won over and will be adding more VoltiQ reels to my front deck. Why?? From weightless flukes and difficult-to-cast 45–65mm flat sides, to big topwaters and Alabama rigs, this reel has been a joy to fish. I’ve used it for baits ranging from awkward-shaped 3/16 oz plugs to nearly 2 oz A-rigs. It’s easy to dial in, very forgiving, and built on a platform we all know and love (Revo). What the description doesn’t tell you: 1) The reel does not need batteries, a charger, or anything like that. That’s right—the VoltiQ system doesn’t die, lose power, etc. Nothing about this braking system involves a power supply. 2) Yes, the reel makes noise. That’s just the majestic whine of the VoltiQ braking system replacing the sound of yet another bird’s nest and line exploding in every direction in your reel. 3) Settings 1–4 are for the most skilled casters (least resistance), and settings 5–10 provide increasing resistance. - The average user will likely find themselves using settings 4–6.
