Field Notes

A saltwater fly designed for redfish and seatrout, especially around Gulf flats, marsh edges, and shallow estuaries. Fish it with short strips and pauses near grass lines, potholes, and current seams where baitfish or shrimp are present.

Pros

  • Good match for redfish and seatrout patterns
  • Beadhead adds weight for easier casting and quicker sink
  • Versatile in shallow saltwater situations

Cons

  • May be too flashy in very clear or pressured water
  • Not ideal for heavy surf or deep water
