Description

THE PATTERNS The Aberdeenshire Dee is our favourite Scottish river, and this little fly has proven to be the best Dee springer fly in my box. It was born on the Dee but has taken fish on many rivers around the world, it’s a great general pattern. We put the yellow under the black - made it swim with soft materials and suddenly the old Icelandic Black Sheep turned into an even better fly. A super standard for cloudy days. This is one of the patterns that we seldom fish in bigger sizes, it’s quite the opposite, the smaller it is the more fish we catch on them. This pack also contains material for a few other micro favourites – flies for clear and dusk conditions. THE PACK This month we tie smaller flies, therefor we include materials to several different patterns. – SOS Organizing Wallet S – Micro Dee Sheep & More Micros sticker – FITS Tubing Clear XS – FITS Tubing Black XS – FITS Tubing Fluor Yellow XS – FITS Tubing Fluor Chartreuse XS – FITS Tungsten Cones Gold – FITS Tungsten Cones Silver – FITS Tungsten Turbo Cones Black Nickel Micro – FITS Tungsten Turbo Cones Chartreuse Metallic Micro – SSS Angel Hair Diamond Pearl – SSS Angel Hair Clearwater Blue – SSS Angel Hair Greenlander Green – Small teal feathers – Black mini marabou feathers – Blue small soft hackles – Small black dyed fox hair – Small sunburst yellow fox hair – Small Natural grey fox hair – Synthetic jungle cock

Field Notes

This is a fly-tying pattern pack rather than a finished fly. It is meant for tying small Dee-style and other micro salmon/steelhead flies, especially in cloudy, clear, or dusk conditions where a compact profile can be effective.

Pros

  • Includes materials for multiple micro fly patterns
  • Good for springer-style fishing and low-profile presentations
  • Contains a mix of tubing, cones, feathers, hair, and synthetic materials

Cons

  • Requires fly-tying skill and tools
  • Not a ready-to-fish product
  • Best suited to anglers who tie their own flies
