Pixie Nymph Selection

This fly pattern was invented by Phil Dixon and it's one of the best autumn and winter grayling flies - it seems to be really successful on the Welsh rivers, especially The Dee. Over the Christmas break in 2024 I fished this fly (on a dual rig with a size 12 Gunmetal on the point and a size 14 White on a dropper and it worked wonders on one of our local Becks). Now that Winter is finally making an appearance and the frosts are starting to become more regular, the Grayling will have started to shoal up in the deeper pockets. With the rivers generally higher than normal and the flow often stronger, you're going to need something a bit heavier if you want to target the Grayling in these conditions. It is important for these nymphs to be seen, so we've added coloured beads to the original dressings, in 4 different colour variations, our selection contains 2 each of the following: Copper Pixie Nymph - sizes 12 & 14 Gunmetal Pixie Nymph - sizes 12 & 14 Orange Pixie Nymph - sizes 12 & 14 White Pixie Nymph - sizes 12 & 14 Generally, the water levels at this time of year are average to high, so we've included a tungsten beads to the size 12 & 14 hooks.
