Description

Megabass Pop Max style popper topwater bait that boasts a very unique and beautifully colored pale bluegill pattern that assuredly will catch the attention of even the wariest of bass! It's simple yet natural coloration seals the deal on the pause while the agressive popping/splashing action dispurses a ton of water causing commotion and focus at the surface which equates to ringing the dinner bell for roaming, hungry bass! Don't get "caught" without one! In addition to the gill openings that allow for water to pass through and create life-like bubbles, The Clique Baits custom painted popper also features a unique gill system that consists of six water-intakes and a water chamber. Four intakes channel water through the gills and out to the sides, creating a unique splashing/chugging action on the surface, while two additional intakes channel water into the internal chamber and out below the bait. This generates enticing bubbles and a surface disturbance that bass can't resist. Clique Baits custom painted popper's intake system also acts like a lip, utilizing the water pressure that is pushed through the lower chamber to keep the lure from skipping across the water, and helping to keep the lure grounded so it can be worked faster. In addition, when the lure is paused, water flows out of the chamber, causing the Clique Baits custom painted popper to raise its head and survey its surroundings. The Clique Baits custom painted popper can be worked like a conventional popper, and with gentle rod-tip action, it will roll-walk dynamically, combining the winning elements of both poppers and walking baits. For best results, fish the Clique Baits Pale Gill around rocky or riprap banks, over grass beds, or on shallow points early in the morning.

Field Notes

Use this as a surface popper around bass feeding on top, especially when fish are keying on bluegill or other natural forage. The aggressive chugging and splash make it a good choice for calm to lightly rippled water, and pauses can trigger strikes from following fish.

Pros

  • Natural bluegill pattern for pressured bass
  • Aggressive popping and splashing action
  • Creates bubbles and surface disturbance
  • Can be worked faster without skipping

Cons

  • Best suited to surface-feeding fish
  • May be less effective in heavy wind or rough water
