Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Fly tying material used to add movement, bulk, and natural-looking fibers to streamers, wet flies, and other custom patterns. Commonly used when you want a soft, flowing profile in the water or a fuller collar, tail, or wing on a fly.

Pros

  • Soft fibers create lifelike movement in the water
  • Useful for a wide range of fly patterns
  • Easy to trim and blend with other materials

Cons

  • Not a finished fly, so it requires tying skill and tools
  • Can be delicate and may wear faster than synthetic materials
