Description

We're dipping into the archives with this fly - with a blast from the 1940's. One of our customers asked us if we do requests - "So long as it's legal", was our reply. They wanted us to reproduce some flies which were discussed in the fantastic book "Flyfishing the Welsh Borderlands" by Roger Smith (an excellent book which you can - and should buy). The fly in question was attributed to a really interesting guy, the Rev. Edward Powell. What really caught our attention was this grayling dry fly was described as "it's so deadly that I am sometimes sorry I ever invented it". Orange Otter. One of Rev. Powell's most famous patterns - This was his 'go to' Grayling dry fly, it was the only one which would bring Grayling up from the bottom when they are not on the feed. This is the fly that the quote "it's so deadly that I am sometimes sorry I ever invented it" is attributed to. This fly is available in sizes 12 & 14. These flies are available individually in sizes 12 & 14. Just click on "add to cart" and then adjust the quantity in your cart.
