The Perdigon - Spanish for Pellet - is a specialist fly which is slim in profile but heavy - they sink very quickly and are ideal for fishing those faster runs. This Nygren style Perdigon has a red 'hot-spot' butt with a light pink body section, topped off with a silver slotted tungsten bead. These perdigon nymphs are available individually in sizes 14 & 16. Perdigon Nymph Specifications: Size 14 Weight : 0.35g Hook Length : 12.6mm Hook Gape : 5.3mm Tungsten Bead : 3.3mm Size 16 Weight : 0.22g Hook Length : 10.2mm Hook Gape : 4.5mm Tungsten Bead : 2.8mm A perdigon fly is usually a beaded fly tied with thread on a small hook, the thread is then coated with a resin to make a slim (bullet-shaped) profile. It is believed that these flies were originally introduced by the Spanish competition anglers, however, everyone should have them in their fly boxes. Because of their size (being small), they are ideal flies to use on rivers which see lots of anglers, fish are less wary when feeding on smaller insects. Perdigon nymphs are generally used in the faster stretches of water, due to their slim, smooth profiles, they sink very quickly and can get to the river bed quickly. This allows you longer drifts each time you cast. However, using these flies will allow you to fish those slower parts, which anglers normally pass by. All of our flies are shipped in eco-friendly packaging and delivered FREE Of Charge to anywhere within the UK.
