Description

Introducing the Next Generation of articulated shanks Designed by Flymen Fishing Company The Next Generation Shank (NGS) range represents the next generation of articulated shanks with a focus on improved functionality and ease of use. The NGS range provides a single, improved design across the full range of shank sizes making it easier for fly tyers to create and tie better, more effective articulated flies such as the Game Changer style flies. The design improvements offer significant advantages over previous shank models: KEY FEATURES Triangular Rear Loop Reduces the gap between interconnected shanks by pulling the shanks closer together, resulting in flies with tighter, more integrated bodies. Triangular shape is easier for the jaws of the vise to grip and hold the shank, especially important with the smaller size shanks. Loop eye Stronger than a ring eye, the loop eye eliminates the chance of shank failure, enabling you to land bigger, stronger fish. Extended Wire tags The “tag end” of the shanks are now extended to run the full length of the shank. This means there are now 3 parallel wire strands creating an even base platform to wrap the thread and materials along the entire length of the shank. Makes it easier to wrap, more precise and overall, much stronger shank. SIngle Design Easier for fly tyers to better understand the articulation concept and tie better, more effective articulated flies across the full spectrum of fly sizes. Shank Sizes and Qty Per Pack Micro Shanks: 6mm Tail Shank, 6mm and 8mm (Qty 25) Standard Shanks: Tail Shank, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm and 35mm (Qty 25) Longer Shanks: 45mm, 55mm (Qty 20) and 65mm, 80mm (Qty 16)

Field Notes

Used as an articulated fly-tying component for building multi-section streamers and other articulated flies. It helps create a stronger, more stable connection between fly sections and is especially useful when tying Game Changer-style patterns.

Pros

  • Improved articulated fly construction
  • Stronger loop eye design
  • Easier to grip in the vise
  • Extended wire tags create a better tying platform

Cons

  • Only useful for fly tying, not as a finished fishing lure
  • Requires additional materials and tying skill
