Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Flash and synthetic fiber material used as a tying component to add shimmer, movement, and visibility to flies. Commonly incorporated into streamers, saltwater patterns, and other fly patterns where extra flash helps attract fish in varying light conditions.

Pros

  • Adds strong reflective flash to fly patterns
  • Useful for both freshwater and saltwater fly tying
  • Can increase visibility and trigger strikes

Cons

  • Not a finished fly or fishing lure by itself
  • Can be too flashy for ultra-clear or heavily pressured water
