Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Synthetic flash material used in fly tying to add shimmer, movement, and visibility to streamers, saltwater patterns, and attractor flies. It is typically tied in as a wing, tail, or body accent to imitate baitfish flash or trigger strikes in low-light or stained water.

Pros

  • Adds strong flash and attraction to flies
  • Useful for many freshwater and saltwater patterns
  • Easy to incorporate into tails, wings, and bodies

Cons

  • Can be too flashy in ultra-clear or heavily pressured water
  • Primarily a tying material, not a finished fishing lure
