The Hogy 7' pocket surf rod echoes the surf rod designs of the 1970s and 80s, which were built to cast thick monofilament lines over great distances using fewer, forward-placed guides on a heavy fiberglass blank. Although modern advancements have moved us away from casting mono on glass, this rod retains the ability to launch a wide range of lure styles and weights to impressive distances. I particularly enjoy using this rod for "barefoot" beach fishing, and it proves exceptional as an albie rod on the boat, where casting distance is more crucial than pinpoint accuracy.
