This spigot ferrule or U joint connection has long been the preferred joint for high end fly rods, by providing a smoother rod action regardless of the number of sections and offering the feeling of a one-piece rod as the bend flows seamlessly through the blank. Arrows illustrate where the pieces should align, and the sections lock firmly into place with a quarter turn.
