Description

Kama Kote is a compound which has been specifically designed to prevent the corrosion of hook points, particularly those which have been sharpened. Once you remove the outer metallic coating from a hook point – by sharpening it or by removing the protective wax that we use on the Kamakura range – it can quickly become tarnished or begin to corrode as it oxidises or is exposed to the chemicals which occur in water, and this will take that ultra-sharp edge away. To prevent that happening, dip your hook point in Kama Kote, which is both odourless and transparent in water, and isn’t petroleum based (unlike Vaseline).

Field Notes

Use on sharpened hook points after you remove any protective wax/coating. Dip the hook point in Kama Kote to form an anti-corrosion barrier that helps preserve the sharp edge when the hook is exposed to water.

Pros

  • Prevents corrosion/tarnishing on hook points
  • Helps maintain an ultra-sharp edge after sharpening
  • Odorless and transparent in water
  • Not petroleum based

Cons

  • Requires dipping/maintenance after sharpening or before use
  • Best results depend on proper application to the hook point
