Field Notes

Fish it in the surface film during the Hawthorn hatch, especially in late April and early May. It is designed for trout on rivers, reservoirs, and stillwater when fish are keying on small dark insects near the surface. Do not apply floatant, as the pattern is intended to sit naturally in the film.

Pros

  • Buoyant foam post helps it ride in the surface film
  • Natural Hawthorn imitation for spring trout feeding
  • Available in two practical sizes

Cons

  • Short hatch window limits seasonal use
