Description

Gyokusai is a super-heavyweight minnow built to cut through strong winds. Designed for maximum casting distance and stability, it uses Bassday's TSL (Torsion Spring Lock System) and a shaft glider system. The 14.5g, 8mm tungsten weight ensures excellent performance, even against headwinds. With a strong rolling and wobbling action, it swims smoothly at slow speeds, transmitting the current to your hand, making it ideal for night fishing. The diving depth is set to less than 3 ft (1m), perfect for targeting fish in shallow areas as they chase bait near the surface. Equipped with TSL, the heavy weight is firmly fixed during action, and swimming like a fixed center of gravity is still alive and well. Although the action is similar to the 135F, which allows the movement to be clearly transmitted to the hand, the floating position is set horizontally and slightly upward, and it is also good at extremely slow retrieves. It uses its flying distance to cover a wide range of areas, and is good at diving to depths of about 80cm, making it appealing to fish that prey on shallow waters. The slightly fat body can carry heavy weights, and at the same time it is equipped with a thick #4 hook, making it suitable for catching big fish.

Field Notes

Use this minnow-style plug when you need long casts and stability in wind or current. It is designed to be retrieved slowly in shallow water, where its rolling and wobbling action can trigger fish feeding near the surface, especially around low-light periods like night fishing.

Pros

  • Excellent casting distance in strong wind
  • Stable at very slow retrieve speeds
  • Shallow-running profile is good for bait-chasing fish

Cons

  • Limited diving depth keeps it in shallow water only
  • May be less versatile than deeper-diving plugs
