The center-balanced jig falls with a wobbling action in a horizontal position, remaining in the strike zone for an extended amount of time. Field Notes

This is a flat-fall, slow-pitch style offshore jig designed to be worked vertically or on a controlled free-spool fall. Let it drop through the target depth, then lift and repeat; most bites are expected on the fall when the lure is wobbling horizontally in the strike zone. It is especially suited to deep water and current where a longer fall time helps trigger reaction strikes.

Pros

  • Center-balanced fall keeps the jig in the strike zone longer
  • Glow finish can help in deeper or lower-light water
  • Versatile rigging with assist or treble hook options

Cons

  • Heavy weight is not ideal for shallow water
  • Best used with vertical/deep-water technique rather than simple casting
