Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Fly tying foam sheets are used to cut bodies, backs, wings, and other buoyant components for custom flies. The 2 mm thickness is useful when you want a thin, easy-to-shape material for dry flies, hoppers, beetles, and small terrestrial patterns.

Pros

  • Lightweight and buoyant for floating fly patterns
  • Easy to cut, shape, and glue for custom tying
  • Thin 2 mm profile works well for small to medium flies

Cons

  • Not a finished fishing lure or fly
  • Thin foam may be too light for larger patterns that need more bulk
