Description
Few bugs are as prevalent across America as the caddis, which explains why there are so many fly patterns to imitate it! This fly is outstanding in that it perfectly mirrors a caddis that is starting to emerge from its husk on the stream bottom. Any angler who has spent time picking up rocks and observing the bug life has seen the familiar bright coloration of a caddis larva peeking out from its twig, rock, and sandy home. While fishing multiple flies is usually desired, fishing this one by itself during the late spring season is quite effective. Bottom bouncing this fly, by adding a little weight and jigging it along the bottom, can produce plenty of trout when the caddis are pouring off in May and June.
