Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Fly tying material used to build crustacean-style patterns and other bulky saltwater flies. It is typically wrapped or tied in to add movement, profile, and a fuzzy baitfish/crab-like silhouette.

Pros

  • Adds lots of movement and bulk to fly patterns
  • Useful for crab, shrimp, and baitfish imitations
  • Available in multiple colors for matching forage

Cons

  • Not a finished fly, so it requires tying skill
  • Can be too bulky for very small patterns
