Wapsi Fly

Field Notes

Fly tying material used to build bodies, thoraxes, and collars on nymphs, dry flies, wet flies, and streamers. It is applied at the vise to add color, bulk, and texture rather than being fished by itself.

Pros

  • Versatile fly tying material for many pattern types
  • Wide color assortment for matching natural insects or adding visibility
  • Useful for both sparse and buggy profiles

Cons

  • Requires fly tying skill and tools
  • Not a ready-to-fish product
