Description

One of the biggest obstacles to fishing structure is hang-ups. The design of Strike King®'s Denny Brauer Structure Jig aims at reducing hang-ups and increasing your hookups. A special Owner 2X strong Cutting Point® hook has a zero degree line tie for a straight pull and better penetration. The unique Cobra Head™ position means less material in the hook gap for a better bite, and its tapered nose helps reduce lip blow out. The shape and weedguard angle reduce hang-ups while the wide footprint of the head helps increase your feel of the bottom. Other features include chip-resistant paint and premium skirts. Celebrated jig fisherman Denny Brauer, who helped design the jig, says the Structure Jig does in fact decrease your hang-ups and increase your hookups when casting into structure.

Field Notes

Cast the Structure Jig into submerged structure (wood, rocks, brush) where hang-ups are common. Use a steady retrieve or hop it along the bottom, keeping contact with the head to feel bottom and trigger bites. The weedguard and head shape are designed to reduce snagging while maintaining penetration on the hookset.

Pros

  • Designed to reduce hang-ups in structure
  • Zero-degree line tie for straighter pull and better penetration
  • Weedguard angle and tapered nose help improve hookup rate
  • Chip-resistant paint and premium skirt

Cons

  • Still requires careful line control in heavy cover
  • 1/4 oz may be too light for very deep or fast-current structure
