Field Notes

A vintage wooden surface plug like this is best worked around shallow cover, shoreline structure, and calm to lightly rippled water. Use steady retrieves with occasional pauses or twitches to imitate a struggling baitfish and draw reaction strikes from bass.

Pros

  • Classic collectible wooden construction with glass eyes
  • Surface presentation can trigger reaction bites
  • Compact size is versatile for shallow water

Cons

  • Vintage condition may affect durability and action
  • Best suited to shallow water only
  • Collectible value may make it less ideal as a daily throw-around lure
