Description

THE FLY In our collection of old flies, the Green Highlander is rare, but as a classic for modern fishing, it's one of the most common. This is likely due to its excellent colours for the clear, greenish waters of many Scandinavian rivers. We believe in harmonising fly colour with water, and the Green Highlander has given us many great fish. We fish them in various sizes, from broad and big down to very small and sparse. It’s a great pattern that has influenced several of our other flies. We've kept the original colour concept, enhanced it with our SSS synthetics, and transformed it into a soft, modern, drop-formed classic that will swim and outfish the original feather wing. FEATURES – Medium broad profile – Tungsten 1/2 turbo cone – M FITS tubing for fixed hook – Balanced modern swimmer – Beautiful drop form – Synthetic jungle cock

Field Notes

This is a classic salmon-style fly pattern designed for clear, greenish water and can be fished in a range of sizes depending on conditions. It is suited to swinging or swimming presentations in rivers where a balanced, modern fly profile helps it track naturally through the current.

Pros

  • Classic proven pattern for clear water
  • Balanced modern swimmer profile
  • Works in multiple sizes

Cons

  • Not ideal when fish want a very sparse or ultra-subtle fly
  • Specialized pattern with limited use outside salmon/sea-trout style fishing
