Description

With the TX-007 Stern Planer you can set the lure down to the desired depth and maintain the depth at any distance you choose behind the boat. It’s great for trolling in congested areas and for more effective contour trolling along drop offs, contour lines, reef edges and weed lines in rivers, lakes or the ocean. Take advantage of the prop wash, which moves disoriented bait-fish, sediment and bugs around that attract fish. Although it’s primary use is as a stern planer, it can also run off of outriggers or be used as a buoy marker. In addition, the TX-007 may be used to take the memory out of mono line that has been spooled a long time on a reel.

Field Notes

Use this planer for trolling to hold lures at a chosen distance and depth behind the boat, especially when working contour lines, drop-offs, reef edges, and weed lines. It’s useful in congested water where you need to keep baits separated and can also be run from outriggers or used as a buoy marker. The line-memory note suggests it can also help straighten mono that has been stored on a reel for a long time.

Pros

  • Helps maintain lure distance and depth while trolling
  • Useful around structure and in congested areas
  • Can be used as a buoy marker or with outriggers

Cons

  • Specialized trolling accessory, not a lure
  • Primary use is limited to planer-board style applications
