Description

Cortland’s Caddis Nymph Assortment Caddis are a very common cool water insect that will often have huge hatches timed throughout the year. These are an extremely popular fly for trout, steelhead and salmon. Fished under an indicator (use split shot) or as a dropper under a dry fly close to the bottom of the river. On lakes these are fished with a slow twitching motion to imitate a swimming insect.

Pros

  • Effective imitation for common caddis hatches
  • Works in both rivers and lakes
  • Can be fished under an indicator or as a dropper

Cons

  • Requires fly-fishing setup and often split shot/indicator rigging
  • Small hook sizes can be harder for beginners to handle
