Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Used as a fly-tying component to add weight, shape, and a finished head profile to streamers and other articulated flies. They are commonly slid onto the hook or tying thread to help create a more compact, balanced fly and can also add a bit of flash depending on the finish.

Pros

  • Adds weight and a clean finished head to flies
  • Useful for streamer and saltwater fly patterns
  • Simple fly-tying component

Cons

  • Not a finished fishing lure by itself
  • Requires fly-tying skill and materials
