Field Notes

A hollow-body surface frog built for fishing over pads, matted vegetation, and other heavy cover. The cupped lip adds a popping/walking surface disturbance, making it useful for calling bass up in pressured water or around smaller prey. Best worked with pauses and short pops across open pockets in vegetation.

Pros

  • Excellent for heavy cover and vegetation
  • Cupped lip adds extra surface commotion
  • Downsized profile for pressured fish or smaller forage

Cons

  • Can be less effective in open water than a standard topwater
  • Requires solid hookset and heavy tackle in thick cover
