Description

The Boat Life Floating Prodding Stick uses spring button locking fibreglass pole sections to quickly explore and mark spots whilst out on the water. Firstly it can be used as a prodding stick to poke and prod the bottom to find out the substrate or make up of the bottom, identify depressions or depth changes and then used as a marker pole to mark your chosen spot or feature. Choose the removable domed metal nose to determine the nature of the lakebed, replacing with the pointed spike to adapt the Prodding Stick to a marker pole. The top marker pole breaks down into three sections to allow the pole to sit low to the surface. All 3 top sections feature high buoyancy foam for improved stability and to prevent accidental loss. A high viz fluoro orange EVA sight tip and wrap of reflective tape ensure the pole is visible in all light conditions, including under head torch light. Holes in the bottom section ensure the stick is easy to manoeuvre even when using substantial numbers of sections in deep water. Field Notes

Use this from a boat or float tube to probe bottom composition, locate depth changes, and mark productive spots. It is most useful when mapping features before fishing or when you need a visible reference point to return to a spot. The floating, high-visibility design helps in low light and open-water situations.

Pros

  • Dual-purpose probing and marker use
  • Floating sections reduce loss risk
  • High-visibility tip and reflective tape improve spotting

Cons

  • Not a fishing lure or bait
  • Best suited to boat-based spot marking rather than shore use
