Description

Balsa Slip fishing floats in a variety of sizes and colors to use with bobber stops to get deep fast when float fishing in holes greater than 8 feet. Can be used with inline sinkers, soft split shot, or with sliding sinkers to get presentations down in either slow or heavy currents. Slide a Bobber Stop up your main line before threading your slip float onto the line. After threading your slip float onto your main line, tie on a micro swivel to prevent the float from sliding off. Apply your Soft Split shot to your mainline between your float and swivel. Adjust your Bobber Stop up and down your main line to adjust your depth. When your weight (shot or sinker) settles in the water column, your slip float will rise up your mainline and stop at the Bobber Stop.

Field Notes

A slip float is used for presenting bait or small lures at adjustable depths, especially when fishing water deeper than 8 feet. It works well with bobber stops, micro swivels, and split shot or sinkers to keep the presentation in the strike zone in slow to heavy current.

Pros

  • Adjustable depth for deep float fishing
  • Works in both slow and heavy current
  • Balsa construction can aid sensitivity and buoyancy

Cons

  • Requires bobber stops and rigging components
  • Not a lure by itself; needs terminal tackle and bait
