Field Notes

Choose the jig weight based on target species and depth: lighter (1/16–1/8 oz) for smaller panfish like crappie/perch, and heavier (3/16–1/4 oz) for walleye/pickerel. For larger pike and bigger walleye/pickerel, use the heavier Sparkie Jig sizes (3/8 oz and up) and fish it with controlled jigging near the bottom or along structure.

Pros

  • Multiple size/hook combinations for different species
  • Glitter/paintable finish options
  • Works for both panfish and larger predators depending on weight

Cons

  • Size selection is important to match species and conditions
  • Paint/glitter customization may require extra steps if you want specific looks
