Field Notes

A small flat-sided balsa crankbait for bass when fish are feeding on smaller baitfish. The tight wiggle and 4-5 ft running depth make it a good choice for casting around shallow cover, banks, and transition areas.

Pros

  • Handmade balsa construction with a tight, unique wobble
  • Compact size and shallow running depth for precise presentations
  • Foiled bluegill finish can match natural forage

Cons

  • Balsa body can be more fragile than plastic crankbaits
  • Limited depth range compared with deeper-diving cranks
