Description

This spare spool is only compatible with our latest model of General reels, released in 2019. Please ensure that you have a matching reel, call us if you have any questions. The Big Y General is a proven workhorse. Built from 6061-T6 aluminum throughout the frame, spool, reel seat, and drag housing, this reel is designed to handle real fishing—not just look good on a spec sheet. Drops happen. Boats rock. Gear gets knocked around. The General keeps fishing. A full-caged frame adds durability and protects the spool while preventing thin mono and ultra-fine Euro nymph lines from slipping or “hopping” out under load. Sealed Drag System The drag housing is designed to be as sealed as physically possible for a reel with moving parts, helping keep sand and saltwater out of the system. Inside, the 5/6 and 7/8 models use a 6-disc drag , while the 9/10 steps up to 7 discs . A blend of stainless steel, nano carbon, and cork/Teflon for heat dispersion delivers smooth, consistent pressure with easy micro-adjustments—whether you’re protecting light tippet or leaning hard on a powerful fish.
