One Great Rod... The Battalion Stallion! I like the heavier action of the Penn Battalion II. I've nicknamed it the Battalion Stallion because I think of it more as work horse for casting heavy rigs far into the surf. But a battle ready name is also an appropriate name to give this tough but refined rod. I fished it for a solid week in the outer banks with no issues, I suspect I will get years and years of trouble free use out of this Penn Rod, like other Penn products that I own. Just take care of them. One small item is that I had sand down the rubber butt end a little bit to get it into a 1-1/2" dia. PVC pipe rod holders. This was easy with a bench-top belt sander, and looked ok. If you are using 2" dia. PVC you'll have no issues. Note to Engineering: If you make the rubber butt 1.45" it would be perfect and please the "main" 1.5" dia. rod holder market while not upsetting the 2" market.
