Description

Welcome to the home of the Arctic Spinner! The Arctic Spinner is a unique, in-line spinner that is continuing to grow its reputation as an extremely productive lure. Designed in 1967 by fishing guide Jack Wadkins in Bear Lake, Michigan, now owned and operated by Doug Richardson of Luckey, Ohio. The lure has had an excellent history of catching fish throughout Michigan and northern Indiana. Its now time to give anglers in the rest of the country (and the world) access to this all-time great fishing lure. I have had reports and pictures of anglers who have taken this lure to Alaska and caught salmon, and others who have taken it into Canada and caught pike and muskie.

Field Notes

This is an in-line spinner designed to create flash and vibration as it is retrieved. It is best used on a steady cast-and-retrieve presentation in rivers, streams, or lakes where trout and other predatory fish are feeding. The description also notes success for salmon, pike, and muskie, but the product itself fits the trout spinner category best.

Pros

  • Simple cast-and-retrieve presentation
  • Strong flash and vibration
  • Proven fish-catching history

Cons

  • Can be less effective in very clear or heavily pressured water
  • Single-hook spinner style may snag in heavy cover
