Description

THE FLY This is Mikael’s absolute favourite among the old classic Spey and Dee flies. Back in the early eighties, he had good catches on both Dee strip-winged versions and this one with a little cinnamon-coloured hair wing tied flat over the mobile heron-hackled body. This classic fly features humus colours, and perhaps that’s one reason it fishes so well on our Baltic rivers and Norwegian rivers running through forested areas. We appreciate both the classic approach and the sweeping heron hackles – it's no wonder this fly is still frequently found at the end of our leaders. FEATURES – Translucent spey profile – FITS tubing and t ungsten turbo tube – FITS tungsten turbo cone – Spey heron hackle – Synthetic jungle cock

A classic Spey-style fly for swinging through rivers, especially on Baltic and Norwegian waters with forested runs. Fish it on a leader with a steady swing or slow strip presentation where salmon and sea trout hold in current seams and deeper lanes.

Pros

  • Classic Spey profile with mobile heron hackle
  • Good for swinging in river current
  • Translucent materials create a natural silhouette

Cons

  • Specialized river fly, not a general-purpose pattern
  • May require proper sink tip or weighted setup to fish effectively
