Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

A stinger hook is used as a trailing hook on flies or other rigged presentations to improve hookup rates, especially on short-striking fish. It is most useful when tying or rigging streamers and other larger fly patterns where an extra hook point helps convert follows into hookups.

Pros

  • Improves hookups on short strikes
  • Useful for streamer and trailing-hook rigs
  • Simple, specialized terminal component

Cons

  • Requires rigging knowledge
  • Not a standalone lure
