Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Trailer hooks are added to the rear of a lure or fly to improve hookup rates on short strikes. They are commonly used on streamers, spinnerbaits, and other moving presentations when fish are swiping at the tail end of the offering.

Pros

  • Improves hookup percentage on short-striking fish
  • Useful as a trailer on a variety of moving baits

Cons

  • Can snag more easily than a single hook
  • May reduce weedlessness on some presentations
