Pretty Lures

Field Notes

Use this popper on the surface with short rod twitches to create splashes and a popping sound. It’s best around calm water, shade, or low-light periods when bass are willing to strike topwater. Pause between pops to let the lure sit and draw reaction bites.

Pros

  • Surface commotion triggers reaction strikes
  • Easy to work with simple pop-and-pause retrieves
  • Good choice for calm water and low-light feeding windows

Cons

  • Less effective in heavy chop or strong wind
  • Can miss fish if the cadence is too fast or too slow
