THE FLY Our latest additions to the Classic Series are true to their name – classic in every sense. The Butcher is our oldest pattern, initially known as "Moon’s Fly". It was William Blacker who, in 1818, renamed it to the Butcher, likely due to its remarkable ability to produce great catches. We love this complex fly and fish it under heavy clouds in rivers that are clear or slightly coloured. We have preserved the original colour concept, enhanced it with our SSS synthetics, and transformed it into a soft, modern drop-formed classic that will swim and outfish the original feather wing.
